November 15, 2017—The Coalition of Irish Immigration Centers (CIIC) and its membership throughout the United States urge Irish nationals who are interested in emigrating to the United States to submit an application for the 2019 Diversity Visa Lottery (DV-2019), a Congressionally mandated program that provides 50,000 individuals with immigrant visas to the U.S. Lottery winners may be eligible to obtain a Green Card and become a permanent legal resident of the U.S.
Due to a technical glitch, the original application period for DV-2019 was closed and subsequently re-opened with an application deadline of Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 12p EST. (*Note: any applications submitted between October 3 – 10 are void and need to be resubmitted.)
All information and eligibility criteria for DV-2019 can be found on the U.S. Department of State website: www.dvlottery.state.gov; applicants must verify their eligibility prior applying. Please remember that applications for the DV-Lottery:
- Can only be submitted via the US Department of State website within the 30 day entry period;
- There is no charge for submitting a DV application;
- Application status must be checked online at the Department of State website in May 2018; successful applicants will NOT be notified via letter or email, therefore application receipts MUST be kept.
CIIC regional Irish centers are available to answer questions that applicants may have, and in some cases are available to provide application assistance. You can find your local Irish center at the following link: ciic-usa.org/find-your-local-irish-center.
“With so few pathways for Irish nationals to emigrate to the United States, the DV lottery is an opportunity not to be missed,” says Celine Kennelly, CIIC Board President. “If you are interested in coming to the U.S. there is no reason not to apply; the application process is free of charge and completed online. Our member centers are ready to help if you need assistance. Remember you’ve got to be in it to win it!”
ABOUT THE COALITION OF IRISH IMMIGRATION CENTERS
The Coalition of Irish Immigration Centers (CIIC) was established in 1996 to promote the welfare of Irish immigrants in the US at a national level. CIIC is funded by a generous grant from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Emigrant Support Programme.

The Coalition strives to be a strong, cohesive and representative voice for the needs of its member centers, and in turn the greater community of Irish immigrants in the US. The Coalition prioritizes the sharing of information and the creation of best practices as a way to support and assist its member centers in their direct service work. CIIC member organizations are located in California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Philadelphia and Washington.
