Member Center Spotlight: Irish Pastoral Centre – Boston

The Coalition of Irish Immigration Centers proudly highlights the Irish Pastoral Centre (IPC). Since 1987, IPC has been a trusted haven of welcome and support, celebrating Ireland’s ongoing presence in Boston through outreach, advocacy, and community support.

A Strong Foundation

The Irish Pastoral Centre – Boston was founded in 1987 in direct response to the large increase in Irish Immigrants in the Greater Boston area. Today, the mission remains the same: to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive support to immigrants of all ages and backgrounds while celebrating Ireland’s enduring ties to Boston. Honoring the continued presence of Ireland in Boston the IPC continues the tradition of an Irish welcome in Boston for all.

Programs and Services

The Pastoral Centre offers a comprehensive range of programs designed to meet practical, social, and spiritual needs:

  • Aging Well Program: Coffee mornings, Bumble Bee Knitting & Crochet Club, along with cultural connections, advocacy, and support, including phone check-ins and home visits.
  • Client Services: IPC provides confidential support combined with a warm welcome, where life’s complex issues can be addressed. Our holistic clinics offer personalized support to individuals through counselling, spiritual guidance, social work, sobriety support, bereavement programs, legal clinics, and Irish passport assistance. Ensuring that their unique needs are met through advocacy and resource connection.
  • Community Engagement: Cultural events, a monthly 32-page newsletter that keeps the community informed and connected, weekly toddler programs, 25 Cards Night, Fish & Chips, Community Lunch, Traditional Irish Music Session, Comprehensive J1 Welcome & Student Support Program, Boston Irish Dippers, Special Events, and Irish Dance Classes.

Through this wide-ranging approach, the Centre supports vulnerable and at-risk immigrants each year across Greater Boston, primarily in Suffolk and Middlesex Counties.

A Trusted Resource

The IPC is particularly recognized for its dedication to addressing basic needs and for its robust partnerships with local and international organizations. IPC provides confidential and trusted support along with an enriching cultural experience for all.
